beach scene using iris folding

Our member, Carolyn, completed this 'Memories of Summer' challenge. In addition to iris folding, her hobbies include photography. She incorporated some of her photography work into the completed design. Here is what she had to say about how she made her scene:

" The background for my picture was all from my own photos. I went down to the sea and took lots of shots of water, sand and sky and also a rock wall which I cut and pieced together to make the base for the lighthouse.

I used each template supplied by BobbiLynn. For the clouds I used gouache paper as it tears nicely and I used the torn edges and not folds. I shaded the edges with chalk. The lighthouse was done with a stucco paper from the Internet. To the towel I added a little fringe each end. The pelican in the sky is a very scaled down version of one of my photos and the sun was pastelled around for a glow. I worked the dolphin in a silver/grey satin ribbon with a bead for his eye. The starfish are little metallic charms and the rest is self explanitory, I hope."
