This iris folding challenge was completed by a group of 3rd and 4th graders in Orono, Maine as part of an afterschool program. Susan kindly sent in the picture along with information about how the project was completed.
As a group, the children went shopping at their local scrapbooking store. Each child picked out the colors they wanted to use for their part of the iris folding. Working together they had to make sure all their colors would not clash and they would show up well against the background.
The picture measures 22x28 inches and they added a dark blue border. The lighthouse was enlarged and all the other patterns were left the same size.
Jess made the sailboat, Liam the dolphin and a cloud, Elizabeth the lighthouse, Jessica the umbrella, Elea the blanket, Jacob C. the palm tree, Elias the sun, Kailey the fish, Olaf a cloud and Meaghan the turtle. Susan stated that they all enjoyed the challenge.
